Florovit lime for fertilisation
About 70% of arable land in Poland can be described as acidic soils or highly acidic soils. Lowering pH of the soil (soil acidification) is a natural process, among others, caused by calcium leaching into the soil profile. An excessively acidic pH of the substrate limits the efficient absorption of nutrients by most plants, and therefore it is recommended to use Florovit lime for fertilisation on regular basis.
It aims to deacidify all types of soils. The fertiliser quickly improves the pH of the soil, which enables plants a more efficient absorption of nutrients, as well as limits the absorption of heavy metals, such as cadmium, lead, chromium, etc.
Florovit fertilising lime:
- provides a pH of the substrate appropriate for plants,
- introduces a crucial nutrient into the ground, namely calcium,
- has beneficial influence on physical properties of the soil.
Turf present in the soil improves the structure of the soil when combined with calcium, which in hand leads to maintaining proper water and air ratio.
soil pH | scope / value of pH |
---|---|
highly acidic | not exceeding 4.5 |
acidic | 4,6 - 5,5 |
slightly acidic | 5,6 - 6,5 |
neutral | 6,6 - 7,2 |
alkaline | exceeding 7.3 |
Method of application:
-
The liming procedure should be performed at least 3-4 weeks before anticipated sowing 0f seeds or planting plants, as well as prior to using any other soil applied garden fertiliser. It is recommended to use lime fertilisers in autumn or very early spring.
Sprinkle the granulated lime evenly on the whole fertilised area and when possible, mix with the topsoil up to a depth of 10-20cm. Doses of the fertiliser should be adjusted to the pH level and the type of soil.Lawns:
- highly acidic soils (pH of the soil not exceeding 5) – dose 4–5 kg/10m2
- slightly acidic soils (pH of the soil close to 6) – dose 1–2 kg/10m2
Other plants:
for more detailed information see the table.
NOTE!
Vegetables like pea, beans, carrot, parsley, celery, parsnip, tomato, cucumber and pumpkin do not respond well to fresh liming. Liming the soil under the cultivation of these plants should be performed not later than in autumn of the year preceding the cultivation.
Do not use lime for acidophilic plants, such as: blueberries, rhododendrons, ericaceous plants, etc.
Do not use lime fertilisation and manure fertilisation in the same year.
Date of application:
I | II | III | IV | V | VI | VII | VIII | IX | X | XI | XII |
Composition of the fertiliser:
EC FERTILISER
LIMING AGENT
Type of fertiliser – Standard calcium
40.0 % CaO – total calcium oxide
Neutralisation number – min 42
Reactivity 100%
It is recommended to perform random pH measurements of the substrate (acidity of the soil) and use obtained results to establish the dose of the lime.
